Bilstein 5160 Series Shock Absorbers are high pressure remote reservoir gas monotube shocks designed specifically for lifted pickups and, SUVs. The shocks feature a 46mm digressive piston with self-adjusting deflective disc valving. They offer super damping ability that makes them ideal for heavy hauling or off-road use, while maintaining an exceptional street ride. The remote reservoir provides additional oil capacity for enhanced cooling.
Zinc-plated steel body with Triple-C-Technology coating.
10/1/15 UPDATE: Bilstein has created new part #'s for this shock with a driver and passenger side configuration. Looks like they're including a bracket to extend the factory brake line mounting bracket (to allow for increased droop) along with nice billet reservoir clamps and no-drill hardware to mount the reservoirs to the truck frame rather than the shock body.
We installed some of these on our 13 Tacoma DC LB and found it to be a well thought out and complete install with good instructions and a nice ride. We found the passenger side shock mounts in front of the axle and that exposes the exposed shock shaft to roost rash (they don't have shaft boots) so we slightly modified a single Fox Roost Shield with a die grinder (to fit better around the factory lower shock mounts) and put it on there. Seemed to work good. The driver side shock mounts behind the axle and is better protected from roost rash. We can sell the Fox shin guards individually instead of a pair- let us know if you need just one.
For the aggressive off-road: Bilstein B8 5160 stock mount remote reservoir shocks are a direct-fit for your lifted truck, Jeep or SUV no cutting or welding required.
With an added remote reservoir, the 5160 shock absorbers provide ultimate vehicle control on even the harshest terrains. Zinc plating and increased oil capacity dissipate heat more effectively assuring long-term durability.
Reservoir mounts are included in the box. An optional billet aluminum reservoir clamp is available.
